Do you long to decrease stress and overwhelm and restore joy to parenting your child with ADHD?

AS IS: Accepting, Forgiving and Empowering Your Child With ADHD and Yourself will guide you to new ways of thinking that will change your parenting journey. Instead of focusing on managing your child's behavior, this book will encourage a mind shift that emphasizes connection, compassion and growth.

As we speak, millions of kids are living in a world that doesn’t understand, support or embrace who they are. These precious kids with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) face a multitude of challenges, and their parents and caregivers who love them are struggling too. Trying to build your kid’s self-esteem while feeling isolated and uncertain can be very hard. This book is a big hug for parents raising kids with ADHD because it offers hope and guidance.

Written by Shelley Lippman, a transformation coach, positive psychology practitioner, master of arts in communications and mother of three kids now in their twenties (two with ADHD), Lippman has been in the trenches for almost three decades. Her pivotal parenting moment came when an elementary school administrator admitted to hating her son with ADHD. This was the moment she had a major mind shift, realizing that she needed to develop radical acceptance of her son and get curious about how he experienced life. She needed to find, deep within herself, compassion for him and compassion for herself and to accept that he didn’t need to be fixed. She set out to learn, study and train to do better for her son and live her parenting journey with more joy and intention. She learned to see the opportunities and to feel more confident and optimistic, instead of lost, frustrated, and worried about her son’s future. This shift was life-changing for her, her marriage and all her children. And it can be for you too.

Lippman believes that parenting provides you with a sacred opportunity – and responsibility - to provide your kids with a sense of safety, security, and connection. This book is not a typical collection of ADHD tips and tricks. Instead, Lippman shares decades of experience, unfiltered personal stories and heartfelt and practical advice, scripts and exercises that will empower you to make intentional choices to support your child’s unique needs. Her mission is to guide you toward reigniting a stronger and more meaningful relationship with your child with ADHD as you come to see them for who they are and raise them to be confident, resilient and empowered adults.

You will learn about acceptance and the value of building awareness, compassion and connection. You will explore the power of forgiving your child, yourself and the people in your world through gratitude, curiosity and pausing. And you will learn ways to empower your child and yourself by focusing on strengths, self-advocacy and pathways to flourishing.

Whether you're a new parent or an experienced caregiver, this book will help you navigate the challenges of ADHD with confidence, joy and grace. Prepare yourself for a profound journey of mind-shift, seated in the power of connection and compassion for your child and yourself.
